The community art center is FREE and open every weekend to help families and individuals of all ages connect to art and expression. You can stop in with your family to explore artwork and make free crafts in the art studios.

2. Mad Science Drop-By: Grossology Friday, April 19

Nature can be gross sometimes! Come and discover the slimy, sticky, oozy world around us in this fun, drop-by program for young mad scientists. Caregivers will need to assist children younger than 5 years old with activities Hosted by the Watershed Stewardship Center.

3.  Floral Immersive Exhibition at the Downtown Public Library Friday, April 19 - Sunday April 21

The  Archive is a breathtaking installation composed of thousands of delicate flowers suspended in a display that celebrates the beauty of life. When you’re done checking out the flowers, be sure to walk around this beautiful historic library. They have a great kids space and they have one of the world’s tiniest books. Kids (and adults!) can use a magnifying glass to see the teeny tiny print in the book.

4. Unicorn Day by the Cleveland Public Library Saturday April 20

Join us for Unicorn Day featuring all things unicorn: stories, crafts, and even a unicorn photo shoot with our special guest unicorn. Bring the family and feel free to dress your little ones up at unicorns.

5. Peace, Love, Alpacas, & Earth  Day Saturday April 20

Join us as we celebrate Earth Day and Mary Jane's First Birthday! Visit with the animals, plant a flower, learn about our environmentally friendly alpacas and more! Did you know alpacas are considered a "green" livestock? This means that they are light on the land, preventing soil erosion by "cutting" the grass while they graze, instead of pulling it out like other livestock animals, which allows the grass to continue to grow. While you're here, stop in our shop for items made from alpaca fleece-an Earth friendly renewable resource!

6. Space Adventure Craft Event at Lakeshore Learning (FREE) Saturday, April 20

Make believe you’re a kid astronaut and join us on a space journey filled with hands-on learning fun! We’ll be crafting shuttles you can take home and making mission stops to learn about the moon, solar system and galaxy. You’ll even get to play with some of our coolest space-themed products along the way! This event is happening at all locations (no reservations needed!) and even includes a stellar in-store offer.

7. $2 Saturday Movies at Regal Cinemas Saturday, April 20

Regal is making it easier than ever to plan a fun Saturday morning with your kids! On Saturdays, they’re showing some of your favorite family movies — like The Super Mario Bros. Movie or Harry Potter — for just $2 a ticket at the first showtime of the day.

8. Celebrate Earth Day with the Cleveland Metroparks

It’s time again to celebrate the beautiful earth we call home. Although Cleveland Metroparks celebrates every day with daily hikes and nature lessons, this day will be set aside with naturalists and artisans in a creative approach called, “Upcycling.” Come join in the fun as we create new things out of old things.

10. STEM SUNDAY: FLYING SQUIRRELS Sunday, April 21

Drop by and meet live flying squirrels that soar from tree to tree as we sleep each night! We will talk about science behind their amazing abilities and make paper airplanes that catch the air as well as the squirrels do.

11. Earth Day Event at Penitentiary Glen Reservation Sunday, April 21

Join us at Penitentiary Glen Reservation as we celebrate Earth Day with activities for all ages. Earth Day is a global celebration and one day of the year that humans join in bringing awareness to the issues facing our planet. Actions, whether big or small, can help our planet as we work together to protect it 365 days of the year. Earth Day activities include:

  • FREE event!

  • Eco-fair with local conservation organizations

  • Earth Day Marketplace with locally made and fair-trade merchandise

  • FREE tree for each family

  • Wildlife programs

  • Games and crafts

  • Shop in The Nature Store

  • Miniature train rides (1 to 3 pm, weather permitting). NOTE: For safety reasons, pregnant women are not permitted to ride the trains. All children must be able to sit in their own designated seat; lap sitting is not permitted.
