The long-awaited Solar Eclipse week is finally here! We’re all crossing our fingers, hoping for a sunny day. 🤞

In light of the many exciting events on Monday, we have decided to extend our weekend blog by an extra day to share solar eclipse opportunities. 1. Storytime: A ‘Stellar’ Friendship - Friday, April 5

Bring your little ones to the Watershed Stewardship Center as they learn all about eclipses with this sweet story of friendship! They will have a fun craft to make after the program to celebrate our upcoming eclipse event. This event is for 3-8-year-olds with an adult.

2. I-Spy Nature Quest - Friday, April 5 - Monday, April 8

Who’sss sssneaking around the nature center thisss month? Snakes! Visit us to see if you can find all 5 snake pictures hidden throughout the center. Once you have found them all, you can pick out a prize!

3. Hunt of the Month - Friday, April. 5- Monday, April 8

We asked guests to color frogs as they visited in March and 20 of them have “escaped” and hidden themselves around CanalWay Center! Stop by and see how many visitor-designed frogs you can find!

4. Family Storytime at Great Northern Mall - Friday Apr 5

Join us for Family Storytime with the North Olmsted Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library on the first Friday of each month at Great Northern Mall. Storytime will take place beginning at 11:30 AM and is open to children of all ages! Located in the Community Room located near Macy's.

5. Lakeshore Free Kids’ Event: Crack The Case! Saturday, April 6

Don’t miss out on a super-fun detective challenge designed just for kids! To solve the mystery of the missing cake, we’ll craft decoders, investigate possible hiding places, uncover clues and much more! This free, walk-in event is happening at all stores—and attendees even get exclusive savings

6. HOME DEPOT Kids’ Workshop - Saturday, April 6

The first Saturday of the month Home Depot has a free in-store workshop for kids. Each kid receives a craft to build, an apron, and a pin that has a little picture of the craft of the month. The crafts usually require them to use hammers, screwdrivers, and paintbrushes. All provided by Home Depot in-store. These projects typically take us between 30 minutes and 45 minutes.

The workshop runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., the first Saturday of each month. Some Home Depot’s do require registration, so be sure to check before going.

7. $2 Saturday Movies at Regal Cinemas - Saturday, April 6

Regal is making it easier than ever to plan a fun Saturday morning with your kids! On Saturdays, they’re showing some of your favorite family movies — like The Super Mario Bros. Movie or Harry Potter — for just $2 a ticket at the first showtime of the day. More info is available here.

8. Outdoor Spring Creative Play Day with Lake Erie Ink - Saturday, April 6

Get inspired by a morning of creative expression with Lake Erie Ink to capture your responses to the beauty of nature in a song! Write your own verse to our forest song; use the melody provided to be part of a group sing-along. If your own melody comes to you, feel free to share it, too. This uplifting activity will naturally highlight the rhythmic and musical aspects of poetry.

Dress for the weather and prepare to take a hike on our Stearns Trail. Registration required. Free. Best for kids ages 8-12.

9. Story Walk at Crocker Park

Take a stroll through property on a reading adventure through Crocker Park. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett will be the featured story located in various store windows starting at Barnes & Noble. Pick up a map with the locations noted in any of the parking garages or at the North Union Farmers Market.

10. Music and movement at S’il Vous Play, with Music IZz Groovy

Groovy times are continuing at Sil Vous Play Toys with this sweet partnership with @musicizzgroovy ✨ Join them for singing, dancing, instrument playing, and all things GROOVY! Kids ages 0-6 of all abilities are welcome! 💕 Register at Music Izzy Groovy’s. We can’t wait to make music with youuuu!

11. Easter Egg Hunt / Toddler Crawl - Sunday, April 7

This event will happen at The Learning Experience at Crocker Park. Guests will enjoy an Easter Egg hunt, food trucks, balloon artists, face painters, a visit from Bubbles, their beloved mascot, and so much more!
