Upcycling Fair

It is time again to celebrate the beautiful earth we call home. Although Cleveland Metroparks celebrates every day with daily hikes and nature lessons, this day will be set aside with naturalists and family with a creative approach called, “Upcycling.” Come join in the fun as we create new things out of old things. Free children and adult upcycling crafts, scavenger hunts, practical daily Earth Day ideas and free Earth Day stickers await your participation.

Cleveland Play House’s Director of Community Development Marcela Rodriguez-Gonzalez says, “In multiple Latin American nations, Día del Niño is celebrated to remind adults that children deserve protection, education, and a healthy childhood—regardless of where in the world they were born. This is a day where all children should feel special.” She continues to share, “Children are the world’s most vulnerable population. It is important to spread awareness around issues acutely impacting children, as well as protect their rights.”

Saturday, April 25 ‑ Family Fishing Derby ‑ Buffalo Creek Retreat – 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Fish together with your family, hook some memories, and win prizes! Grab a rod and reel in an afternoon of fishing fun during Medina County Park District’s Family Fishing Derby! Parent/child teams can register and fish any time between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Registration during the derby is required to be eligible to win prizes. Please bring your own fishing pole. A limited amount of fishing poles and bait will be available for use. This derby is held in conjunction with Medina County’s Earth Day Festival. All ages are welcome. Free.

Celebrate Earth Day

About The Event

We invite you to the Community Arts Center for a Family FUNday with Claudio Orso to craft your own magical mask! In anticipation of the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Parade the Circle, build an upcycled mask that reflects your identity. This workshop is open to people of all ages and all artistic abilities. This monthly program welcomes Metroparks naturalists each month at moCa as they facilitate interactive workshops focused on nature-based themes.

Each session features three nature stations inside moCa and outside our front door in Cleveland Metroparks’ Mobile NatureTracks, alongside an immersive artmaking experience led by Wave Space Studio. Observe, reflect, and create while exploring the shared ground between ecological systems, contemporary art, and everyday experience.

The program is connected to the exhibitions currently at moCa Cleveland, with a strong thematic anchor in Ohio Now: State of Nature. Participants are encouraged to consider how artists and naturalists alike use observation, experimentation, and curiosity to understand the world around them.

free, fun event at Rocket Arena March 28, 2026 from noon to 3 p.m.! Healthy Kids Day brings hundreds of families and their parents together at Rocket Arena for games, fun activities and, for our basketball fans, some skills and drills on the practice court! There will be kids’ fitness classes, dancing, sports skills clinics, arts and crafts and other enrichment activities.

Many organizations that provide services of all kinds for children and families will be on-hand to join in the fun and offer educational opportunities for all!
