New Treehouse at the Cleveland Botanical Garden

Discovering the New Treehouse at the Hershey Children’s Garden

We recently took a family trip to the Cleveland Botanical Garden to check out the newly renovated Treehouse at the Hershey Children’s Garden, and it did not disappoint!

The reimagined Treehouse is now more inviting and playful than ever, making it a must-visit for families looking for an outdoor adventure.

What’s New at the Treehouse?

The revamped Treehouse blends beautifully with its natural surroundings. One of the coolest features is the kids' hideout area on the ground level, which feels like a secret base hidden among the trees. There’s a little hidden area with cute leaf-shaped cutouts for kids to peek through, and a new rope climbing structure leading up to the top deck.

For those looking for a more accessible route, there’s an accessible ramp that also takes you to the top deck, making this space welcoming for everyone. The floating dock shaped like a lily pad is another thoughtful addition and helps kids imagine what it might feel like to stand on a lily pad in the water.

A Breathtaking View from the Top Deck

The top deck of the Treehouse offers a breathtaking view of the garden. It’s the perfect spot to take in the peaceful beauty of the garden’s vibrant colors, serene pond, and surrounding greenery. From this vantage point, you can get a bird’s-eye view of the pond, where we spotted several frogs basking in the sun—my kids loved finding them!

The Beautiful, Storybook-Like Woodwork

While the Treehouse itself is loads of fun, the woodwork is truly something to behold. Thanks to the artisanal craftsmanship on display, walking through the Treehouse feels like stepping into a storybook. The railings are made from mountain laurel branches, adding a whimsical, natural feel to the space. Meanwhile, the gazebo posts are crafted from locally sourced black locust trees, adding even more charm and a connection to local nature.

I was amazed by the attention to detail. Every piece of wood seems to have been thoughtfully placed, creating an environment that feels like it was plucked straight out of a fairy tale.

More Than Just a Treehouse: Exploring the Hershey Children’s Garden

But the Treehouse is only part of the excitement and experience to be found at the Hershey Children's Garden. There’s so much more to explore, as the whole garden is designed to engage children with nature in a hands-on way.

There's the splash pad, which is perfect for cooling off after running around in the sun. There is also pond a where kids can search for turtles, fish, and frogs.

For those with a green thumb, the gardens featuring veggies and herbs offer a great learning experience. Kids can discover how food grows and get hands-on with the soil and plants. If you have younger children, the sandbox and water pumps are perfect for tactile play and getting their hands dirty.

A Magical and Relaxing Afternoon

Every time we visit the Hershey Children's Garden, it’s such a relaxing, peaceful environment, and with the newly renovated Treehouse, it’s even more of a family favorite.

The Cleveland Botanical Garden as a whole is a gem in Cleveland, and the Hershey Children's Garden is truly a place where kids and parents can explore, learn, and enjoy nature together. Whether you’re local to Cleveland or planning a trip to the area, we highly recommend visiting this fantastic outdoor space!

Be sure to check out the new Treehouse and explore all the wonderful features of the garden—it’s a perfect family outing, especially in the fall!
