We truly are spoiled with the best of both worlds in Northeast Ohio. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite farms where you can pick apples, and also farms that have pumpkin patches, hayrides, corn mazes, and other fun fall activities for families. Happy fall adventuring!
best apple picking farms in northeast ohio
Apple picking has been a family tradition for us since before our kiddos could walk. 🍎 I still remember the first time we went apple picking as a young family when our first born was only a few months old. It was a crisp fall day in Cleveland and it was drizzling slightly (of course!), so we bundled up, grabbed an umbrella, and had such a great time picking the freshest, most delicious apples. These weren’t apples that were sitting on a shelf for weeks, no this was the good stuff. The kind of apples you can stock up on and bake with for weeks! Here are some of our favorite you-pick apple farms. At the bottom of this list are also some farms we’ve heard about, but haven’t had the chance to visit yet.
PATTERSON FRUIT FARM
MULBERRY LOCATION | CAVES LOCATION
Patterson Fruit Farm Pick-Your-Own apples takes place on weekends at their MULBERRY LOCATION and weekdays at their Caves Road location. Pick your own apple season is mid August through mid October. This can vary due to seasonal weather conditions. So, be sure to check their website or call ahead for up to date apple picking times/dates. More info here.
8765 Mulberry Road, Chesterland, Ohio 44026 | 440-729-9809
The Caves Road location has amazing donuts and the coolest farm themed playground so be sure to check that out when you’re out that way for apple picking ( 5 minute drive down the street from the Mulberry location)
PATTERSON’S FARM MARKET (Produce, Gifts & Bakery)
11414 Caves Road, Chesterland, Ohio 44026 | 440-729-1964
HILLCREST ORCHARD
AMHERST, OHIO
At Hillcrest, you get to the apple picking orchard via hayride, which is so much fun and gives all the fall feels. 🚜 The great thing about Hillcrest (and why we love it so much) is it’s an activity farm, and an apple orchard. (More on our favorite fall activities at Hillcrest Orchard toward the bottom of this blog) And of course, no visit is complete without snacking on some delicious apple crisp donuts and tasty kettle corn. If you’re looking for a fun fall outing, Hillcrest Orchard is a must-visit! More Info: Hillcrest Orchard

EDDY’S FRUIT FARM
12079 CAVES RD, CHESTERLAND, OH 44026
We have loved Eddy Fruit Farm for years now. This is the first place we ever went apple picking as a family so it holds an extra special place in our hearts. Eddy Fruit Farm is definitely a more relaxed vibe, particularly because there’s no other farm activities happening like there are at some of the other farms in the area. Which means if you aren’t a fan of big crowds or some of the hustle and bustle that goes with other, bigger fall farms in Northeast Ohio, then Eddy Fruit Farm is a great choice. There is a market when you first pull in, and they sell the most delicious apple fritters. Be sure to grab one before you leave! More info: Eddy Fruit Farm

These next farms are our favorite farms to visit, especially when we’re looking for fun fall activities for the whole family in Northeast Ohio. Some of them do require tickets or charge admission, so be sure to check websites for prices and ticket availabilty.
Ramseyer Farm
Wooster, Ohio
Ramseyer Farm is by far the biggest farm we've visited, and it's been one of our family's favorite farms for a few years! There are more than 50 different activities, and it really does feel like they have things for all ages. Ramseyer does have some of the more expensive admission prices in the area, but every year we have gone we felt like our trip was worth the price of admission. It’s an hour’s drive for us, but it’s worth every minute! Pricing varies by day, so be sure to check their website for details and hours of operation. More Info: Ramseyer Farm
Our Favorite Activities:
🌽 The HUGE corn barn
💨 Country Coaster (super slides)
🚜 Crank Tractor
🌽 Corn maze
⭕️ The Rat Races (Totally not real rats! 🤣)
🏎 Pedal Go-Karts
Hillcrest Orchard
Amherst, Ohio
Hillcrest Orchard appeared earlier on this blog because of their awesome apple orchard, but u-pick apples only scratches the surface of everything Hillcrest Orchard has to offer! Admission to the farm covers most of their fun, fall activities (other than the apples from apple picking and the apple canons). Some of our favorite fall activities at Hillcrest are the hayride, pedal cars, barrel train rides, and climbing the jumbo spider web. They also have a corn maze, hay tunnels, and a u-pick pumpkin patch. You can save 15% off General Admission to Hillcrest by using our discount code: CLEKIDS at checkout when buying tickets in advance.
Schuster’s Pumpkin Patch
Elyria, Ohio
Schuster’s Pumpkin Patch at Donald A. Schuster Greenhouse may be smaller than the others on this list, but it’s an affordable option that our kids absolutely love.
There’s no admission fee (!!) for the Barnyard. Whenever we visit, we try to support this incredible local business by buying pumpkins and kettle corn. It’s amazing how many free fall activities they offer!
Our Favorite Activities:
🎃 Pumpkin theater
🚂 Playground train
🌱 Talking plant (inside the greenhouse)
🏀 Basketball hoops
👻 Spooky maze (a hit with our 6-year-old, but too scary for our 4-year-old)
🔍 Scavenger hunt
On our last visit, my kids had a blast feeding the horse and goats (only $0.25), playing on the music wall, and enjoying the cute little playground. They also offer hayrides on the weekends for a small fee, and you can check their events page or call ahead if you’re interested in the paid activities. More Info: Schuster's Pumpkin Patch
Patterson Fruit Farm’s Mulberry Location has their Family Fun Fest (September 13 - November 2), which features farm-themed play structures and activities perfect for a fall day out. Admission prices and hours can be found here: Patterson’s Family Fun Fest We had a great time when we last visited, though I wish we had brought boots because it had rained recently and our shoes got reallllll muddy. Activities include pedal carts, corn maze, tire swings, and wagon rides.
That’s the end of our best apple picking and pumpkin patch farms list!
