A Taste of New Orleans in Cleveland: Brunch at Bourbon Street Barrel Room

Tucked away in the heart of Tremont, one of Cleveland’s trendiest neighborhoods, lies a gem that brings the flavors, ambiance, and festive spirit of New Orleans right here to the Midwest.

If you haven’t had the chance to visit Bourbon Street Barrel Room (affectionately known as BSBR), you’re truly missing out! From the moment you step inside, you’re transported to the French Quarter with warm hospitality, vibrant décor, and tantalizing smells that remind you of a classic Southern kitchen.

While Bourbon Street Barrel Room has long been one of my favorite spots for dinner, offering dishes like jambalaya, gumbo poutine, and melt-in-your-mouth beignets, I had never tried their Sunday Brunch Menu until recently, and it did not disappoint!

What Makes Bourbon Street Barrel Room’s Brunch Special?

BSBR is known for delivering authentic Creole and Cajun flavors, and their brunch menu is no exception.

Every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., they offer a brunch experience that feels like a weekend escape to New Orleans. Whether you're stopping by for a leisurely family breakfast or gathering with friends over a hearty meal, their brunch menu offers something for everyone, kids included!

Let’s dive into the details of what makes this brunch menu so special.

A Creole & Cajun Twist on Brunch Favorites

What sets BSBR apart is their dedication to authenticity. There’s plenty of brunch spots around town, but no one dives into the rich culinary traditions of New Orleans cuisine like BSBR. The dishes are flavorful and distinct, making this standout among the many brunch options in Cleveland. Whether you’re a spicy flavor fan or crave something more comforting, they’ll have a dish for you.

Here’s what we ordered.

Hush Puppies: Oh my gosh, you guys! I’m a sucker for hush puppies, and BSBR owns the title for my favorite hush puppies in Cleveland! They were the perfect appetizer for our table. (My son loved them so much; he got them as his side so he could have more!)

King Cake French Toast: King cake is a beloved New Orleans tradition, typically associated with Mardi Gras, but at BSBR, they’ve turned it into the ultimate indulgent breakfast item.

Imagine thick slices of French toast, perfectly caramelized and sprinkled with festive purple, green, and gold sugar, and stuffed with cinnamon cream cheese. The King Cake French Toast also comes with seasonal berries, making it not only a feast for the eyes but also an absolute delight for the taste buds. It’s sweet, decadent, and feels like a party on your plate!

Fried Chicken and BSBR French Toast: It’s hard to go wrong with this Southern classic. BSBR’s fried chicken is perfectly crispy, juicy, and seasoned with a blend of spices that pairs beautifully with their signature French toast with subtle hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. If you’re in the mood for a combination of savory and sweet, this dish is the way to go.

Streetcar Pancakes: My daughter isn’t quite as adventurous when it comes to trying dishes, so I was so very glad to see pancakes on the kids’ menu (and on the adult menu, too!). They were fluffy, buttery, and left her feeling full and satisfied.

You can find their full brunch menu here.

Next time, I’m planning on trying the beignets and gravy!

Kid-Friendly Options

One of the things I love most about Bourbon Street Barrel Room is how family-friendly the restaurant is – and the brunch menu is no exception. If you’ve got little ones, BSBR has a stellar kids’ menu to ensure that even the pickiest of eaters leave happy.

The kids' menu includes classic brunch dishes tailored to younger palates. You’ll find staples like pancakes, scrambled eggs, and French toast, all made with the same care and quality as the adult menu.

And, as a bonus, every kids’ meal comes with a drink and a side of beignets – because what kid doesn’t love starting their day with a little treat?

All for only $10.95!

The portions are generous, and for the price, it’s an incredible deal and fantastic value for families. Below are the kid portions off of the brunch menu.
