I was really happy to see that they have a swing set with a double person swing. I loved these when my kiddos were little. 💕
I was a bit surprised that they went with metal slides, so keep that in mind if you’re thinking about going on a really hot day. 😬

The park is surrounded by a walking loop (which is also great for scooters 😉) with a mixture of easy-to-use (FREE) workout equipment. In the middle of the loop, you'll find fun, unique playground equipment. My kids' favorite part is the zip line. They could spend all day on it!

I’m a huge fan of @kompan.us play structures. My kids love the wooden nature structures they build, and they always seem to have a fun time when we end up at one of their playgrounds.
There’s a little obstacle course that my son loves, and a saucer swing that my daughter loves.
The new structure isn’t very toddler friendly, but they did leave one of the old play structures geared toward 2-5-year-olds.

Other aspects we love about Rocky River Park are the fun steps to climb up to get a beautiful view of Lake Erie, and the fun, little spot to play on the beach.

The large main structure is like nothing we’ve come across. It consists of two large towers that are connected by a climbing net. This was both of my kids’ favorite feature.
Other amazing things:

💙 Rope swing
💙 Obstacle course
💙 Double person swings
💙 Accessible swings
💙 Accessible carousel
💙 Toddler structure
💙 Sandpit
💙 Musical instruments
💙 Picnic tables

And more!
Honestly, this is probably the coolest playground we’ve been to, and I think it was totally worth the 45-minute drive.

This is a great playground that is accessible which is always a huge plus.
The playground is very large and includes ramps, music stations, hands-on-equipment, various types of swings, slides, and so much more. One of my favorite things is the squishy ground instead of the traditional mulch. 👏🏻
It’s far away from busy roads, has picnic tables, and nice restrooms.
This playground is definitely worth checking out if you find yourself looking for playgrounds around Stow.

The nature themed equipment was beautiful, the playground was quiet and peaceful, and we had the most enjoyable time. ♥️
By far my kids favorite part was the huge rope swing.
Okay, it was my favorite, too. 😂
You can stand or sit on the rope swing. You control how high you go by shifting your weight. I’ve never seen anything like it! Of course, I tried it out, too. 🤪
The playground isn’t huge, but there were a few different climbing structures, a fun slide, a fun one person spinner, and on the other side of the playground there were swings.
There’s also a nice trail that makes a loop around the whole park. It was nice and serene, and we spotted a few 🐸 on our walk which made my six year old extra happy.

Technically, this is a nature play and not a traditional playground. But it's too much fun to not add to this list! This is probably the biggest nature play we’ve ever been to. There are so many fun ways to explore and to help your littles’ imaginations run wild.
I suggest bringing an extra pair of clothes since there are water pumps, sand, mud (from the garden), and a lot of other nature elements.
It’s such a beautiful experience getting to watch your kids learn and have fun with all things nature.
The Penitentiary Glen also has a wonderful nature center with an indoor play area, a raptor center to see all kinds of birds, and awesome trails.
PLAYGROUND FEATURES & MUST KNOWS:
